Google Discontinues Nest Audio and Nest Mini
Tech Advisor Exclusive: The Google Nest Mini and Nest Audio are discontinued:
Tech Advisor can exclusively reveal, via a statement from Google, that the Nest Mini and Nest Audio are both now defunct. The company said:
“As we continue to build the future of the smart home, we are refining our portfolio of Google Home and Nest devices. As part of this evolution, we have ended production of the Google Nest Mini and Google Nest Audio.”
Google is saying goodbye to those models to make room for the new Google Home Speaker, which will usher in a new era of Gemini-powered devices. The Nest branding will no longer be used, as far as we know – at least for speakers and displays.
I saw this coming. Seeing as the new Google Home Speaker lacks the Nest branding, it seems that Google is sticking to using the Nest branding for smart doorbell, cameras, and thermostats. At least for right now.
But hope is not lost for this still owning a Nest Audio and Nest Mini devices like myself. Google goes onto say:
"We remain deeply committed to our smart home ecosystem and to the millions of people who use our products every day. Existing Nest Mini and Nest Audio devices will continue to be fully supported with regular software updates, security patches, and customer care.”
If my parents original "air freshener" designed Google Home is so supported, as well at my Google Home Max speaker, Nest Audio and Nest Mini customers should have nothing to worry about.
